Registration Q&A

Here’s some information you need to know before you fill out your conference registration form.

Questions & Answers

Q. Do I have to pay DUG dues to attend the conference?
A. Yes. Everyone attending the conference must be a member in good standing. Please see Section III: Membership and Fees of the DUG Charter (PDF) for more information. Many institutions find it convenient to pay for the DUG meeting registration and DUG Dues at the same time using the annual meeting Registration Form (PDF)

Q. Do I have to stay at the conference hotel?
A. No, though it is strongly recommended.

Q. What are the advantages of staying at the conference hotel?
A. Convenience. Almost everyone else will be there. We will be utilizing some hotel services only available to those delegates staying at the conference hotel, e.g. buffet breakfast. Delegates not staying at the conference hotel may need to make breakfast and/or transportation arrangements on their own. Also, scheduling will be done assuming people use the conference hotel.

Q. What if I want a more luxurious or cheaper hotel?
A. Our primary goal in selecting a conference hotel is to find a clean, quiet place for you to sleep. Since most DUG conferences keep delegates quite busy with little time to spend in hotel rooms, having fancy rooms is not a high priority. Many DUG delegates are very cost conscious. Barbara McBride will be happy to provide you names of alternate hotels upon request (Just don’t wait until the last minute to ask).

Q. What if I need transportation from the airport to the conference site?
A. Most DUG delegates drive or take a shuttle van service or taxi. If you are looking to share a limousine, taxi or bus, send your information to the DUG email list at digistar@yahoogroups.com so others in the same situation may contact you directly.

Q. I need a roommate for the conference. Can the Conference Host help me?
A. You can help yourself. Send a request to the DUG email list at digistar@yahoogroups.com that you are looking for a roommate.

Q. We will have very little time to see full-length E&S planetarium programs. How can I see one of the full shows?
A. Come early or stay late! We can usually make time in the day (outside of the conference and training dates) to let you see our programs in our 36' dome. We may also add extra evening preview sessions in our dome if there is enough demand.

Q. I need to know the exact conference schedule. I may not be able to stay for the whole conference and I need to know how to plan.
A. Check the DUG web site (www.digistardomes.org) for the latest conference schedule. In the weeks leading up to the conference we will assemble the final schedule. This web site will always have the most up-to-date schedule.

Q. If I send in my registration forms, how will I know that they have been received?
A. You will receive a confirmation (either by post or e-mail) if you mailed them by the early registration deadline. If you wait until after the late registration deadline, we will try (but no promises) to get you a confirmation.
